The Perfect Day

Yanzi’s latest album is out! Yeeep =D I really adore Yanzi for her great personality, and her music always gives me surprises and new inspirations. Her first single this time is called 完美的一天, which I will translate into, “The Perfect day”.. lol. A very friendly and light-hearted tune, and the lyrics..I so luuurvv it!~

Quick..let me share it with you..

Nice? Hehe. ;) And Yanzi’s style really brings out the whole flavour of it. It’s a fun song basically - fun lyrics, and a fun melody. It’s like a song that’s meant for Sundays, the weather’s bright and sunny..so just enjoy!

And talking about weekends, yea mine was not bad! Just plain rotting at home, tidying things up abit, and watching TV are nice things to indulge in. Having the time to NOT do anything is now considered a luxury.. so just slow down your pace and relax~

That was most part of my Saturday. Sunday I had badminton! It was a long time since I had a good sweat, and it really makes the body feel good after that. Have been terribly unfit and surviving without any form of exercise except walking (if you consider that a form of exercise) for the past months..and after long hours of sitting at my desk everyday, I’m gradually feeling my body becoming so stiff and tensed up. So some movement is good. But my muscles are aching really badly now..my arms, my legs, my butt...so painful *awwwch*. So lousy right!! Sigh..so now I know how badly I need to keep this going in the long run..

**I like to move it move it..she likes to move it move it..I like to…MOVE IT~!**

Had planned to try making my 1ST cheesecake over the weekend too, so after badminton was ‘grocery shopping time’! Chiong to NTUC, then to Phoon Huat and last stop was my void deck’s provision shop..finally got all the ingredients I needed and chiong back home for a late lunch…mutton curry after exercise!..? Ok ermm..it was *SLURRP* berri berri gOOd!

I was really excited about my virgin attempt at baking cheesecakes, was hoping it won’t turn out too bad for a first time, and for a not-so-experienced-with-cake-baking person like me. And this is how my cake turned out…

Orange Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake!! = an erupted volcano… =/

Ermm.. it doesn’t look that gross right? Hmmm...I thought it was the chocolate that made it look so dark while it was still rotating in the microwave..but looking at it now..the top is chao-ta. :( The control during the baking process wasn’t there cuz microwave cannoot compare to an oven when it comes to baking.

BUT! But but but.. it’s still edible. =p Remove the ‘fried’ skin, and there you have the inside, it’s still quite nice..haha. Let me have some more practice and hope I can make one that is edible and can jian4 ren2 one very soon okie! ;P

Well, that was my Sunday. Nothing great nor fanciful, but it is definitely one perfect weekend – call it 完美的一天. For me, as long as we know that we are blessed with good health, we can be together with the people we love and cherish..our family & friends, knowing that they are happy and well, and we can do the things we want to, any day, no matter how simple, can be a perfect day :)

完美的一天 - what is yours like?

What It Takes To Be a Fool

Alan John’s article on the Sunday Times last weekend left me pondering for a while. I particularly liked the phrase he used at the end, so meaningful it is I must put it up on my “Think: Reflect” column..and take time to remember it. It’s a really lovely phrase - simple, yet thought-provoking. Words like these never fail to captivate me and leave me drowned in deep thoughts...

Ok, question. How often do we find ourselves being put down by others - anyone, perhaps your friends, acquaintances, colleagues, or even strangers? Just like the case Alan John described in his article - someone chooses to donate to person/group A, and people will start questioning why this person chose to donate to A and not B, or C, or D, or E. And they say hey, what makes you think that A needs your help more, I think B or D deserves it more than A does! Yada yada yada…

Any action, decision, or behaviour can possibly invite disagreements and criticism from those around us. It could be the way one dresses, one’s daily habits, one’s likes and dislikes..any aspect of life. People tend to disagree more readily than they agree, unfortunately. When there is a clash of ideas, people start to get defensive, because nobody wants to look like he is “wrong”. It’s easier to point your finger at others first and put the other party down by imposing your perspective on him, isn’t it? That will make you seem “right” and superior to the one who gets criticized. Is this one ugly side of human nature?

When objections and disagreements are slapped in our faces, the easiest way is to start shaping our behaviour according to ways that others deem right or acceptable. If not, you’d be called a “fool”, which is bad enough..many people calling you one is enough to make you really seem like one!

How I wish sometimes that everyone can be so agreeable towards one another, and we can all be ourselves and feel comfortable about it. But in reality, people are often so critical about things. It is okay if you keep those thoughts to yourself, but making careless and blunt remarks in others’ faces is really quite insenstive of the person as it might hurt the person’s pride, especially if it concerns something personal.

This just reminds me of an old Chinese story of an old man, his son and their donkey. What is the moral of the story? We can never ever be able to satisfy everybody; whichever way, there will always be someone who will put you down.

There is no absolute right or wrong in everything, everyone knows it..eventually everything boils down to personal preferences. But zui3 ba1 shi4 bie2 ren2 de, if they do not learn to respect differences, there is nothing we can do. So the one thing we can do is just be yourself. Be who you want to be and follow your heart. You might risk being called a ‘fool’, but it’s ok cuz you are one who is true to your own heart.

Then again it’s easier said than done. It takes a great deal of courage, faith, and determination to be a happy fool. Believe in yourself, and not be defeated by remarks that people shoot at you. I’m still learning..

Cheers~ =)

New Stuff Up!

Not enough to be considered a revamp cuz my bloggie still looks much the same, but I’ve attempted to make some slight moderations and improvements to make this place more “me” ;D Cuz I still have neither the time nor any concrete plans on how I can give this place a complete face-lift as yet..but I must and am trying to consistently inject more groove and life to this virtual home of mine as much as my (LiMiTeD) creativity lets me (still trying to stretch that further..haha ;P). Just like adding a refreshener, small pots of plants, pretty curtains to your house..get the idea? Hehe. In fact I have been doing it bit by bit if it hasn’t been obvious..but do expect more new additions to come!

Let me share some stuff (happened last Friday) about some of the new links I added..

Fix-hair Time!
It’s been 5 months since my last haircut (gosh!)..this is about how long I always wait before I go for my next one..yess. Anyway rebonded long hair is rather low maintenance and this way I get to save some money too! =p. I just went for my haircut last Friday after contemplating for a long time, and I eventually chose Kimage over Shunji Matsuo, mainly because I heard a lot of raves about this hairstylist called Erwin from the rest of the podders. ;)

After a long day at work, a hairwash-cum-massage was – one word - *shiok*..no splashing of shampoo/water everywhere, plus friendly and patient service, so...good! But it’s a pity I booked my appointment at the wrong time – I squeezed mine in between two prior booked ones so I had to wait quite long for the hairstylist to attend to me, and he shot off to the next customer immediately after he was done with me. Very rush for time, but he did a proper haircut for me anyway :) Am satisfied with the way he effectively layered my thick hair, but I’m giving my hair some time to “settle down” before I can see whether the shape is nice. If it looks good, then I’ll be going back to Kimage Erwin for my hairdos from now on liao. ;)

Friends for Life
I met up with sis after that to have dinner together at bugis. In conjunction with World Animal Day 05, SPCA had booths set up at Parco walkway over the weekend to celebrate the occasion. There were a lot of lovely SPCA goodies on sale and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. I grabbed a 2006 SPCA diary, a set of christmas cards, and a really cute poster, which looks like this:
And this is pinned up at my office desk now, so I can look at it everyday :)

I also picked up two SPCA membership forms at the booth..looking forward to becoming their member. What a great way to kick things off I thought..suo3 wei4 all things start small, I’m glad I can do my small part for these abandoned lil’ animals starting from here. =) [Btw I still have one extra form with me, anyone who’s interested can also download it from the
SPCA homepage.] :)

Quick-check time!
Anticipating quite a few changes and adjustments at this point in time of my journey, as well as for the next few months before the year 2005 comes to an end..*so fast?* I realise I’m a really anti-change person. Ya I know some changes are good, but keep to a minimum is still best. =/ And worries come with changes, inevitably – yes, I am a WORRIER. – and maybe some pleasant surprises I hope?

Next update up soon..better be! ^^
